Capetonians were unimpressed when Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa went on stage during local duo Mafikizolo’s performance on Saturday. During the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, the crowd booed the minister off stage as soon as his name was introduced and he could barely manage a few sentences before the crowd forced him to leave.

The department is one of the official sponsors of the festival, which attracts around 37 000 people over two days.
Then, how’s this, one of the singers attempted to revive the festive feeling that was around earlier by shouting “Racism Must Fall”. Uh uh.
While some reports (by the SABC, ahem) suggest that the booing wasn’t linked to political reasons, but rather because the minister chose to rock up in the middle of a performance, Twitter shows it’s pretty obvious that the crowd had no time for a Zupta apologist.
