Andries Coetzee is shedding a tear, and maybe you will too.
Yesterday SA Rugby dropped their latest #SA2023 Rugby World Cup video, and of course it’s designed to tug at the heartstrings.
Say what you want about the cost of hosting a major tournament, and whether or not it’s financially viable (one auditing firm says it will bring in R27 billion), but there’s something about hosting World Cups that brings the best out in our people.
As it stands the three companies hired to assess bids from SA, France and Ireland are due to make their recommendations to World Rugby later this week, with that recommendation made public on October 31.
World Rugby’s General Council will then vote on November 20, and we will know whether we’ve landed the big one.
Get a little amped with this:
We feel you, Andries.
