It’s been a bad year for the Alps.
In January, a ski trip in the Alps went horribly wrong when a young man injured his knee near the Anterne Pass. He was rescued thanks to someone who is easily the world’s most skilled helicopter pilot.
Also in January, thousands of tourists found themselves stranded after heavy snow cut off villages and towns across Switzerland, Italy and France.
In recent news, BBC reports that a small plane had a run-in with some ski lift cables in the Italian Alps.
Dramatic pictures were released by Italian mountain rescuers following the crash in Prato Valentino on Sunday.
The pilot had light injuries after being thrown out of the plane. He is now being treated in hospital, the rescuers say.
The only passenger on board the plane was unharmed.
So everyone made it out okay which is good news. We can’t say the same for the plane.

Here’s more footage from the Italian news. Unfortunately, there are no subtitles, so if your Italian is a little rusty, turn off the sound and take in the visuals:
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
