Villagers in Bunawan township, near the Phillippine capital of Manila, recently dragged this pretty specimen from the water after a three week hunt: a 21-foot long, one tonne saltwater crocodile that is thought to be responsible for the death of livestock and at least one local fisherman in recent months. The beast destroyed four of the traps that had been set for it, and was only caught in the end with a snare made of steel cables.

Once captured and restrained, it took over 100 of the villagers, overseen by local authorities, to drag King Croc from the water. It is thought to be one of the largest living specimens of modern-fricking dinosaur yet captured, and will spend the rest of its days in an eco-park nearby, cooling its heels until its careless captors lose concentration for just… one… second…
