Daylight Robbery As Masked Thieves Hit Jozi Jewellery Store [Video]

A day before our national lockdown started, thieves hit a jewellery store in broad daylight.

With everyone home for the entire day at present, I guess there’s a chance that some crooks are finding it a touch harder to carry out their crimes.

Then again, home robbers have probably moved to some other form of criminal endeavour, so the show goes on.

I’ll save you the worry and let you know that the following robbery is alleged to have taken place inside the Westgate shopping centre in Roodepoort on Wednesday, March 25, before the lockdown measures came into play.

One less thing for the community Facebook group to vent about.

More from the Citizen:

The footage kicks off with one of the perpetrators entering the jewellery shop. The gunman threatens the shop staff, showing he is armed.

He communicates with his colleague, wearing a PPF mask, to continue looting the store.

The footage shows the man wearing a mask raiding the shop and packing jewellery into a bag.

When we talked about the benefits of wearing masks, we didn’t factor in that it aids with robberies.

Here’s the footage:

That second robber was one false move from featuring on a compilation of the world’s dumbest criminals.

As things stand, the value of the goods stolen remains unknown.

Remain vigilant in the days and weeks to come, because Justice Minister Ronald Lamola has now ordered that alleged perpetrators of petty crimes be released from police holding cells.

You can find more details on that story here.
