We have seen #BlackLivesMatter marches before, and all too often, because black Americans dying at the hands of law enforcement continues without any meaningful changes to a system that perpetuates this violence.
Just look at the data – statistical comparisons show that police in the US typically shoot, arrest and imprison more people than similarly developed nations, and black Americans suffer disproportionately.
Trevor Noah returned from a short break to take a closer look at the US law enforcement response to police brutality (more brutality), and why these protests are different from others.

It’s enough to provide a glimmer of hope, and with the brutality of our own law enforcement also under examination, as a result of the death of Collins Khosa and other citizens during the national lockdown, perhaps we may see some changes here at home.
For that to happen, the pressure on key decisionmakers needs to be relentless, much like those who protest in the wake of George Floyd’s murder show no sign of letting up.
