Breast implants for your 21st birthday?
Hey, none of my business, and may your boobs bring you great joy for the rest of your days.
Sometimes things don’t go to plan, and the recipient is unhappy with the end result.
Worse still are the side-effects of Breast Implant Illness, a condition that has divided many in the medical fraternity.
In a recent segment, Carte Blanche took a closer look at the condition entails, and those who are doing their best to ensure that women don’t suffer alone:
It’s not a recognised disease and research on it is scarce – some doctors deny it’s even real.
But with chronic fatigue, memory loss, joint pain and even rashes, anxiety and skin problems appearing after they received breast implants, and disappearing soon as they took them out, some women are questioning whether they can blame it on the silicone gel- or saline-filled breast implants they had.
Carte Blanche meets some women who have spearheaded efforts to raise awareness for sisters who may have suffered in silence.
Interesting fact – the opposite of an implant is an explant.
