The official Twitter handle of the South African Presidency dropped the following bombshell just before 15h00 today.
The news comes in wake of allegations of maladministration on the part of Cele, made by the Public Protector.
The move is especially spicy, given that Cele was once seen to be a major political ally of President Jacob Zuma, and played a major roll in lobbying for his successful presidential candidacy.
But, oh joy of joys, the Grand Poobah will keep his salary until officially axed.
