Ricky Gervais has hosted the Golden Globes on five separate occasions.
There’s a slightly different vibe to the Globes, though, with celebrities enjoying a few toots on a night that carries far less pressure (and sway) than the Academy Awards.
It’s very, very unlikely that Gervais would ever host the Oscars. He’s gone on the record to say that while the Globes let him do as he pleased, “I don’t think the Oscars would ever allow me that freedom, and rightly so.”
That didn’t stop him from letting us in on a few potential jokes ahead of the 94th Academy Awards.
In response to a tweet stating how the Oscars would be far better if he was hosting, Gervais replied:
He slept, but when he woke he retweeted a joke from The Office (the proper one, not the US knockoff).

The full joke from Brent went: “I know someone who is an alcoholic and it is no laughing matter, particularly for his wife. And she’s got alopecia. So… not a happy home life.”
Would Will Smith have slapped Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson if he cracked the same joke as Chris Rock?
Or what if it was Gervais up there?

He’s probably deserved a klap over the years for some of his Golden Globes comments but he’d say it’s a joke, so take a seat and calm down.
