Wild animals are, by definition, inclined to act in ways that to us defy reason. It’s kind of like when you’re feeling sheepish after a rowdy evening and claim ‘the tiger got out the cage’, something we’ve been known to use on the odd occasion.
That can certainly be said for this elephant near Mopani in the Kruger National Park. It isn’t known what caused the tusker to become so enraged with the buffalo but there was only ever going to be one winner in this battle to the death.
Kruger Sightings, the YouTube account to which the video was uploaded, believe that with October being a time of drought the elephant wasn’t all that keen to share the scant water resources with anyone.
I guess in human terms it’s kind of like when the bar tab is about to run out at a wedding and the mad rush begins, everyone elbowing their way to the front of the queue to get in that last round of drinks before the wallets come out.
