This would be a pretty special anniversary present for any deserving lady. A rare blue diamond unearthed in the Cullinan mine in April 2013 has successfully been auctioned for R160 million.
Emirates first class and business class passengers may be in for a treat as the airline is looking to trial a shisha lounge on board select Airbus A380 aircrafts.
The world of luxury travel is often scorned. This is usually due to a bumbling jealousy from bottom feeders, or on the flip side, by the ‘learned,’ due to the pretense and opulence that many sought-after destinations are infamous for. In short, it is a very difficult concept to get right.
No need to say more when Lamborghini’s new concept car is called “The Egoist” and based on a cockpit of a fighter jet.
A man made island of sail-shaped skyscrapers surrounded by tropical seas was billed to be China’s Dubai. But unlike Dubai, Phoenix Island has not been able to rise from the ashes. Property on Phoenix Island is considered a bad investment in light of the recent economic downturn. With China’s unstable economy proving to be crippling for the [...]
The new Airbus ACJ319 is basically the one you always dreamt of. The little issues of ‘range’ and ‘comfort’ don’t come up when you’re in this league. Being able to fly from London to Cape Town comes as standard. Does it have beds, you ask? Oh please..
Not content with only having world’s tallest building, the world’s biggest indoor ski resort, and the world’s most luxurious hotel, Dubai will also soon add the world’s largest underwater hotel to their checklist.
Oe, now here’s a treat. We’ve long been fans of the Westcliff suburb of Johannesburg, with it’s rose quartz outcrops and shady, solid jacaranda trees dotted about the sloping hillside. It’s a quiet area. It’s an expensive area. And this mini-mansion lives up to the reputation of the area, quietly killing it with a large [...]
Just take it all in. You could command an empire from these grounds. And what’s the going rate for your own principality? Obviously the current owners were brought up with solid breeding, because they think it’s rude to set a number that large in writing. The price is POA. But then, price doesn’t ever really [...]
Throughout his life, Steve Jobs was renowned for his perfectionist tendencies, so it’s no surprise that his yacht, Venus, was built to the same specifications. The unique, self-designed yacht recently made its first public appearance in the Dutch city of Aalsmeer.
We’re quite partial to private jets, here at 2oceansvibe, and we take our appreciation further than just a lie-flat bed and in-flight entertainment. Take note of the Gulstream G650 which is faster, flies further and is more beautiful than any other jet in its category. Oh, it also has bigger passenger windows than any other [...]
You’ve heard that they don’t mess around in Clifton, and this apartment is no different. If you’ve got the R45m to acquire this 3-bedroom stunner, then the R16,000 a month in levies and taxes shouldn’t be an issue. Check out these stunning pics!
I’ve never been on a cruise and I’ve never had anyone fully explain to me what it’s about and what it’s like. So for those of you who haven’t done one yet, listen to this (you won’t believe what I paid).
Plans have been set in motion to build a $1 billion replica of India’s Taj Mahal, in Dubai. The ambitious project is part of an even bigger development which includes replicas of several other world famous structures.
Johnny Ives, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Design, just put down $17 million for a stunning, five-storey mansion in San Francisco’s Gold Coast. So, what exactly does that kind of money buy you? Let’s take a look.

Flying is a nightmare, or rather, the facilities surrounding flying are a nightmare. Checking in two hours prior to your flight, going through the entire security rigmarole which sees you unpacking half of luggage and then having to squeeze it back in, and then rushing onto an overcrowded airplane only to wedge yourself in between an overweight, nervous flyer and a hyperactive five-year-old first timer. Seems like there should be an easier solution, and now there just might be.
Ah business class, the good life, more comfortable, roomier seats, better service and, crucially, better food. Unless of course you were amongst a group of business class travelers on-board Delta Air Lines flights from Amsterdam to Atlanta who were served sandwiches containing needles.

The hidden and unknown has fascinated man since the beginning of time, and with the advent of civilisation, forgotten treasures have become harder and harder to find. But what if we want to delight in exotic pleasures and indulgent luxury, free of everyday restraints and in perfect harmony with nature… to escape in an untouched [...]
It sounds like one of those Indiana Jones movies, don’t you think? Indiana Jones and The Golden Age Of Luxury Train Travel! We weren’t too far off, to be honest – as The Muse and I (accompanied by the Hardimans!) journeyed across South Africa, from Pretoria to Cape Town, stopping off at Kimberley and Matjiesfontein [...]
Diamonds are one of the world’s great fascinations. They enchant, mesmerise and sparkle. Nothing quite says “piss off, I’m rich” like a big rock. Not all diamonds are equal either – pink diamonds are the rarest of them all, accounting for only 0,1% of all cut diamonds. A 12,76 carat diamond has just been found in Australia – getting married soon?
Fully equipped with a personal submarine, a helicopter that nests in a hydraulically operated hangar and water cannons, the PJ World Yacht is the ultimate floating luxury mansion that you’ve always dreamed of… and will never have.
Extravagant is a word that comes to mind when you think about this residence. Not everyone has three helipads, six floors of parking and numerous floating gardens as features built into a home they don’t even live in. Approximately valued at $1 billion, and considered one of the most expensive private residences in the world, what’s wrong with it?
There is nothing worse than a wailing infant. It has to rank up there with one of the most irritating sounds known to humans. And when you’re paying a cool R70 000 for a return ticket to travel in a first class suite aboard an Airbus A380, you certainly don’t need to hear a baby crying.
Paul Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft, and holder of the title of “worst teeth for a rich person” also happens to own the world’s second largest yacht – The Octopus. One of the logistical tentacles of the Octopus is a helicopter used to ferry crew and guests to and from the vessel. It crashed into the ocean. Click for the pic.

Finally. Something to spend this R1.5 million I have lying around on. Lennon’s 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Coupe (I don’t know what most of that means!) is being auctioned off in February; they expect it go for slightly more than his dark green Chrysler station wagon, which was recently auctioned off for $5,500 (ZAR 37.5k).
“Marina Bay Sands” sounds like a fairly generic resort, right? It could be anywhere in the world. It’d be nice, but you know, when you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. Wrong. Infinity pools are as cool as they sound. But a 150 meter long, gently curving arc of water perched on top of a [...]
While some people seem to be able to convince themselves otherwise, I’ve found yet another reason to play the Billion Rand international lotteries. It’s been a while since we perused the private islands available to buy with our winnings, so you can only imagine my excitement when I noticed that Cave Cay is on the [...]
