We reported in the Morning Spice that three-time world champion and Kelly Slater’s biggest rival, Andy Irons was found dead in his hotel room in Dallas on Tuesday.
While his death was initially believed to be a result of the mosquito-borne virus, Dengue Fever, which his family said he was suffering from, some newspapers are now saying that the Medical Examiner’s Office in charge of the case is investigating the possibility of an overdose, as vial of Methadone was apparently found in the hotel room.
The methadone was found on the nightstand, inside a container of a prescription drug called zolpidem, commonly used for insomnia. Methadone is a powerful controlled substance used for pain.
Irons leaves behind his wife of almost three years, Lyndie Dupuis, who is seven months pregnant with their first child.
