It’s a festival of beer like no other. From 25 to 27 November (this coming weekend), Hamilton’s Rugby Club (next to the Cape town stadium) will be home to the 2010 Cape Town Festival of beer. With over 40 different beers and 20 brewers on board, not to mention live band, big screens (Boks vs England test), fraileins serving beer steins and competitions for pallets of beers and air tickets to the beerfest in Munich next year, this is sure to be one of Cape Town’s most celebrated events. Be there! Check out the full vibe after the jump..

TICKETS are available at R50 on www.webtickets.co.za and more info on www.capetownfestivalofbeer.co.za its taking place at Hamiltons Rugby Club. There are taxis available and plenty of parking around the stadium where we will have marshalls to look after cars. Plenty of awesome food available and an ATM for good measure!

    RIKKI’S TAXIS

The inaugural Cape Town Festival of Beer has partnered with Rikki’s Taxis to ensure that visitors to the festival are not tempted to drink and drive.

With over 20 different brewers and more than 40 brands of beer on offer, the Cape Town Festival of Beer wants its patrons to avoid taking their cars to the event at all.

“We have beers of all persuasions,” say the Festival Organisers, “and it’s a rare opportunity to try all the different styles and meet the people behind the labels, but we are particularly concerned about drinking and driving.”

The Cape Town Festival of Beer team have asked Rikki’s to get on board with a strong presence at the exit to the Festival on all three days of the event (25-27 November) to be held on the fields of Hamilton Football Rugby Club in Greenpoint.

A collection of micro, home and big-name brewers will be present along with food, a music line-up and live coverage of the final Springbok clash of the year.

Festival-goers are urged to use Rikki’s taxis to get to the festival as well; thus eliminating the temptation to drive their car home in the first place. “A Rikki’s share ride is a highly affordable way to travel,” say the organisers, “and for those who live near enough to the Greenpoint venue or on a bus route there are options for public transport too.”

For those planning on appointing a designated driver, security patrolled parking will be plentiful around the event area.

“The aim of this Festival is to have fun and enjoy a new experience in beer. The law is non-negotiable on drinking and driving and we are asking people to give high regard to their lives and the lives of others by leaving their car keys at home when they visit the Cape Town Festival of Beer.”
