Aside from hunting, interbreeding and kicking back in caves, looks like our ancestors were totally into hallucinogenics. Researchers have been analysing cave paintings in Spain, and have come to the conclusion that our long lost relatives weren’t adverse to dabbling with ‘magic mushrooms’ from time to time.
This discovery isn’t the first of its kind, with another hallucinogenic scene being depicted on a mural in Algeria, meaning that we, as a species, have been tripping balls for almost 9,000 years.
Apparently, the ‘shrooms’ may have been used for religious ceremonies, although all the evidence points toward prehistoric trance parties.
