Hot on the heals of controversy surrounding a statue of Michael Jackson, erected by multi-millionaire Mohammed Al Fayed, outside Fulham Football Club, comes the news of a statue of baby-dangling Michael Jackson. Oh no.

The statue, called “Madonna and Child”, portraying an incident where Jackson dangled his child “Blanket” out of a window in 2002, has caused Jackson fans to kick up a big fuss. The life-size statue by  Swedish-born artist Maria von Kohler is mounted in a window at The Premises Studios, a music studio in the East of London.

A fan called Paul wrote on the studios website that:

Michael Jackson fans get angry because this is the kind of thing they have to deal with day in and day out – the slams, the lies, the tabloid mentality.

But Viv Broughton, the studio’s chief executive, defended the sculpture, saying that it was a “thought-provoking statement about fame and fan worship.”

I think it’s super creepy, but nowhere nearly as creepy as Jackson himself.
