Oh Malcolm, my brother, say it isn’t so! A new, extensive biography on the famous man himself claims that Mr. X intentionally fabricated, exaggerated, glossed over, and omitted vital facts about his life. One such fact omitted was his same-sex relationship with a white businessman. Not enough? The book further claims he sustained a sexual relationship with a transvestite named Willie Mae, and also he had sex with gay men for money, boasting he serviced “queers.”
Yes. A transvestite. Named Willie Mae.
The book was written by Manning Marable, a renowned and respected African American historian and social critic from Columbia University. Sadly however, just three days before the release of his book last week, he passed away. But he left behind an exhaustive and new 594-page biography, called Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, which also marks the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination in 1968.
