There was not even the most token of attempts made by the ANCYL to wish President Jacob Zuma for his 70th birthday yesterday. This in stark contrast to the lengthy statements the league released last year to honour the birthdays of Nelson Mandela, Zuma’s deputy, Kgalema Motlanthe and ANC stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela.

Embattled youth league president Julius Malema was tied up fighting for his political survival, unfortunately, and couldn’t make it to the Zuma erectile dysfunction health care party yesterday at the ANC headquarters yesterday.

He missed this wise soundbite, uttered by President JZ on his big day:

“People ask me what do I do to remain young. It’s a simple thing. You need a good heart…You just need to be nice, even when something bad happens. You must wish your enemies good luck … then you will live until 70.”
