While holidaying on his yacht off the coasts of St Tropez, Simon Cowell intercepted a May Day distress call from a nearby boat. The X-Factor boss sprung into action and redirected his vessel to go to their aid, ultimately saving nine people.

Simon Cowell, notorious for being harsh and abrupt with X-Factor entrants, showed his more compassionate side recently when he came to the aid of nine strangers whose boat had begun to sink off the French south coast near St Tropez. Cowell heard their distress call and immediately redirected his captain and crew to go assist the stricken vessel. His ex-girlfriend who was holidaying with him at the time, pop star Sinitta, took to the Twittersphere to report her host’s valiant efforts.

Cowell’s crew also helped pump water out of the sinking vessel. Good guy, Simon Cowell.
