The Duchess of Cambridge who suffered severe morning sickness two months ago has still been feeling a bit naff. In order to combat her pukey tendencies, Kate has turned to scented candles in her battle with nausea. She is said to have filled her Kensington Palace home with the Contentment Candle, by Neom, which is made with the oils of the rare South African Buchu Plant.
The powerful scent of the candle is believed to be helping the Duchess overcome these waves of nausea and the Royal residence now has a distinctly blackberry-esque hue. By burning these candles for two to four hours daily, the scent is achieving the desired therapeutic effects.
Already having turned to natural food remedies, including Turkish figs and lavender biscuits sent to her by the Royal Family, it was a somewhat natural progression to turn to the rare Buchu Plant for relief.
The Neom Candles aren’t available in South Africa, but you can buy them online. There is however a large range of other great Buchu products in South Africa, including Buchulife.
In South Africa, buchu leaves are used as a remedy for gastrointestinal ailments. The plant gives off a scent similar to blackcurrant.
