If you thought things could not get any worse for Lance Armstrong, he is facing a criminal investigation by federal investigators according to a high level source who told CBS News this:

Agents are actively investigating Armstrong for obstruction, witness tampering and intimidation.

Contrary to statements made on Tuesday by Andre Birotte, US Attorney for Southern California,  who had been conducting a criminal inquiry of Armstrong for nearly two years, it was revealed that Armstrong had been under investigation for crimes including drug distribution, fraud and conspiracy. But the case was suddenly dropped on Friday. Agents did not understand why the case was dropped as they had recommended an indictment.

Armstrong’s attorney has been mum on the issue regarding the criminal investigation.
