This crazy Russian, Valery Rozov, has successfully completed the world’s highest BASE jump. Rozov jumped off the north face of Mount Everest. Yes, he BASE jumped off Mount Everest. Rozov’s Everest base jump was in commemoration of the 60th anniversary since Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay summited the world’s highest mountain. The jump location was at an altitude of 7,220 meters.
Rozov flew for for almost a full minute while reaching speeds of 201 km/h. The Russian landed safely on the Rongbuk glacier.
The jump entailed two years of preparation, with four sherpas, photographers and camera crew spending nearly three weeks in the Himalayas before the actual jump on 5 May 2013.
