One year after the election of Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, almost half a million people took to the streets protesting the leader to leave his office. Demonstrators have been gathering by their thousands at Cairo’s Tahrir Square just outside the Presidential Palace.
The public flashed laser pointers at the military helicopters that hovered above the ordeal. According to Mashable, it’s not known whether this was an act of “civil disobedience” or something with more violent intent. Lasers have been known to temporarily impair vision, therefore putting any pilot in grave danger.
