YouTube has announced its first ever music-awards program with the help of one of our favourite actors, Jason Schwartzman. Schwartzman will be hosting the event on 3 November at New York City’s Pier 36 – check him out the promo video above.
Nominees for the six categories of awards will be announced on 17 October and the winners will be chosen by YOU! Isn’t that nice? YouTube comments and social media will decide who walks away with one of YouTube’s first awards, set to compete with MTV’s Music Video Awards.
Lady Gaga, Eminem and Arcade Fire are set to headline the show with Spike Jonze directing some livestreamed performances.
Instead of bands performing to an audience on a stage, we’re going to have a warehouse with all these different sets and try to make live music videos throughout the night.
