Yoh – residents of the suburb of Glenwood in Durban are getting angry. They’re so fed up with the prostitutes that stand on their streets, they’re going the extra yard to identify their clients, name them on Facebook, thereby disrupting business as usual. The concerned residents wrote to the local community paper to announce that they would set up “surveillance cameras and a registration service on Facebook for free”.

    Enjoy these threats:

Don’t worry,we will do all the work in recording all dates and times, together with the vehicle you were using on that day, should you need to claim from your company’s petty cash or insurance.

The Facebook group is releasing car number plates, descriptions of the drivers, cars and workers, along with photos of the sordid transactions.

Heather Rorick, who chairs the Community Safety Forum, said the prostitutes use residents’ “driveways as toilets”, expose themselves to drivers in broad daylight and approach customers at businesses. Rorick claims that most of the prostitutes’ customers come from Hillcrest and Umhlanga.

Drivers who regularly visit the Durban suburb were handed letters that read,

A vehicle registered under your name has been observed. We want to make you aware that this area has had an increase in drug dealing, vehicle theft, robberies and prostitution.

That would make any man freak out.

    Well done, Glenwood!
