Yesterday afternoon, like so many summer afternoons in Johannesburg, saw some really destructive hail tear through parts of the city, leaving hundreds of people questioning the safety of their cars, windows and pets.
Gauteng’s West Rand seems to have been hit the hardest. In one incident a car carrying an unknown number of passengers was completely swept off the road. Meanwhile, hail stones the size of cricket balls absolutely pummeled Krugersdorp.
Officials say they are working tirelessly to help those who were affected by the super-storm, which also caused heavy traffic jams and affected air travel.
