Puff Daddy once sung “I don’t know what they want from me, it’s like the more money we come across the more problems we see”, and in 2013 he couldn’t have been any more correct.

    1. Steven Cohen

    Net Worth: $9,4 billion
    Nationality: American
Source of Wealth: SAC Capital Advisors (hedge fund)

    What happened?:

Good old insider trading. SAC Capital Advisors in November pleaded guilty to insider trading violations, and agreed to pay a $1,2 billion penalty and to stop managing money for outside investors.

    2. Serge Dassault

    Net Worth: $13,9 billion
    Nationality: French
Source of Wealth: Dassault Aviations and Dassault Systemes

    What happened?:

THIS GUY. Not only was he worth more than some countries, but he was also mayor of a small French town called Corbeil-Essonnes.

And when it came time for elections, Dassault bought all the votes necessary to elect his hand-picked heir. A secret recording, in which Dassault admitted to the payments, was collected by an investigative group. The group was later targeted by hitmen.

    3. Jacqueline Mars

    Net Worth: $20,2 billion
    Nationality: American
    Source of Wealth: Mars Inc.

    What happened?:

Ms Mars discovered just how sturdy a Porsche Cayenne is when she slammed it into a minivan, killing an 86-year-old woman and the unborn child of another passenger. Apparently she’d fallen asleep.

That’s okay though, because she had her license suspended for six months and paid a $2,500 fine (or .000012% of her entire fortune).
