Usually to get your commercial banned from the Super Bowl you would need to have something too risque for daytime television to handle – something that will get the tannies to utter the words “O, nee!” and make her face turn red. This is not the case with Scarlett Johansson’s SodaStream commercial, so what gives?
“Sorry, Coke and Pepsi.” Four simple words, said by Scarlett Johansson after taking a long pull of a refreshing drink, was all it took to get Soda Stream’s ad banned from the Super Bowl.
At the very least we have a blueprint for viral video. One, make an advert with Scarlett Johansson. Two, put in a cheap shot at Coke and Pepsi. Three, get banned from the Super Bowl.
