This Is The Nanocoating That Will Waterproof Your Smartphone

Finally the kryptonite of the smartphone is being tackled. Yes, dihydrogen monoxide will no longer be the bane of smartphones around the world. With this nanocoating, evil water molecules don't stand a chance.

Finally, the kryptonite of the smartphone is being tackled. Yes, dihydrogen monoxide will no longer be the bane of smartphones around the world. With this nanocoating, evil water molecules don’t stand a chance.

Debuted at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the nanocoating developed by P2i was able to protect a submerged Galaxy smartphone. Most waterproofing technologies currently hold for about 30 mins, but this is child’s play for P2i. They placed the smartphone in a fish bowl, with the timer running, for more than two hours.

The technology works by simply coating the smartphone with a hydrophobic polymer, which is basically a fancy plastic. P2i have said that a smartphone will feature this coating some time this year.
