In an apocalyptic future, the remaining humans might look back on October 2016, as judgement day; or most likely the advent of the coolest new sporting games: Cybathlon. The Swiss National Competence Center of Research will be hosting a championship for “robot-assisted parathletes” during October 2016 in Zurich.
Basically, it’s the Paralympics with the addition of robots. The first ever bionic games will have robot assisted athletes compete in six disciplines:
- BCI Race (BCI: Brain Computer Interface)
- FES Bike Race (FES: Functional Electrical Stimulation)
- Leg Prosthetics Race
- Powered Exoskeleton Race
- Powered Wheelchair Race
- Arm Prosthetics Race.
