That is correct. Shrien Dewani will very likely be staying in Valkenberg after he lands in South Africa from 8 April to stand trial for the murder of his wife, Anni Dewani. Shrien will enjoy a direct overnight flight from London to Cape Town. Upon landing he’ll be transferred straight to the High Court, where he’ll be charged in the presence of his lawyer.
This, from News24:
If he is denied bail and it is found that he is suffering from mental illness, he will be transferred to the general psychiatric unit at Valkenberg Hospital in Cape Town. If he is granted bail but requires medical care, he will still be transferred to Valkenberg Hospital.
If Dewani is found to be unfit to stand trial, he will be transferred back to the United Kingdom, where he cannot be charged for the crime.
