Who wouldn’t snap a selfie with Obama when the opportunity arises? But don’t try to use it for commercial purposes, you don’t want the White House on your back. Here is the selfie that has landed Samsung in trouble with the US government.
While President Obama was honouring the Boston Red Sox for winning the baseball World Series, David Ortiz, the 2013 MVP, took a selfie with the president, which Orbitz duly tweeted. Samsung then retweeted Ortiz’s tweet, marketing their product.
As a rule the White House objects to attempts to use the president’s likeness for commercial purposes. And we certainly object in this case,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney.
What an honor! Thanks for the #selfie, @BarackObama pic.twitter.com/y5Ww74sEID
