The British Ecological Society has released its top photographs this year, and they are truly something special. From all over the world, 200 entries were received, depicting everything from scenery to baby birds to fish to dead animals.
They chose this one as the winner, taken by Alejandro Ruete in his back garden in Sweden. It is of a hoverfly perched delicately on a globe thistle, and is called “Kiss in the backyard”.
