    The Lodge at a Glance
    Situated in Hluhluwe along the north of KwaZulu-Natal Umkhumbi Lodge offers travellers a quiet stay with views over the dense canopy of Sandforest. A selection of board games keeps children and parents entertained, while the lapa offers panoramic views of the surrounding forest.

    What to do in Hluhluwe
    Pronounced Sloo Sloo We, this small town on the North coast of KwaZulu-Natal is found between iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve on the banks of the Hluhluwe river and one of the main attractions in the area is the Big 5 that can be found at the two surrounding parks. The area has a tropical climate and boasts a variety of nearby activities including safari, horseback riding and walking trails. A mere 70km away travellers can head to famous Sodwana Beach, where scuba diving is the order of the day.

    More adventurous sorts can take a hippo and crocodile tour on the river at the St Lucia Cruise Estuary, while and Emdoneni Cat Rehabilitation Centre allows an up close and personal experience with endangered wild cat species. One of the highlights of the area is a chance to kiss a baby crocodile just 10km outside of the town. With a wide variety of wildlife sights on display and heritage sights to explore Hluhluwe is a nature lovers dream.
