Ah yes, race issues so early on a Monday morning. Come on, South Africa. Grow up already.
A low-cost private school (what even is that??) in Roodeplaat (that’s in Pretoria) is apparently seating the white kids and the black kids separately from one another in classrooms.
I’m sorry, but I am pretty sure it’s 2015???
The Curro Foundation School’s headmaster, Johan Bissett, has, according to the Curro group’s regional head, André Pollard, “been under immense pressure from parents and some staff to keep pupils apart”.
Turns out for the past few years white parents have been asking Mr Bisset “not to enrol so many blacks”.
A few days before the school reopened on January 14, several white parents and those whose children were new to the school told Bissett they would be removing their children from the school because they were in the minority.
Wow.
Pollard said that the school was “responding to the white flight – parents who took their kids out – and we wanted to keep them at the school”.
Yes, Mr Pollard, looks like the best answer is to recreate racial segregation. Well done. This “leader” has also admitted to the school holding parent meetings with just the white and Asian parents. His reasoning?
We were going to split them into classes and we couldn’t just do it because they [the parents] need to prepare them [the children] for that.
I can’t.
