When a man rumoured to have an IQ of around the 160 mark talks we tend to listen. When that man has overcome a crippling case of motor neuron disease and talks in a robotic voice we really are all ears.

Stephen Hawking, the man responsible for the game-changing A Brief History Of Time, has spoken out about what he thinks will be the downfall of the human race. This from Huffington Post:

Hawking chose aggression and warned that a nuclear war could end civilization and possibly the human race.

We need to replace aggression with empathy, which “brings us together in a peaceful loving state,” he said.

A quick scan of the news on any given day pretty much backs Stephen up. Take my word for it, doing it yourself will only bring you pain and heartache.

So what of the future of our race should we not all self-destruct whilst arguing over the existence of bearded men up there in the sky? Huffington Post quotes Hawking again:

I believe that the long-term future of the human race must be space and that it represents an important life insurance for our future survival, as it could prevent the disappearance of humanity by colonizing (sic) other planets…

It hasn’t solved any of our immediate problems on planet Earth…but it has given us new perspectives on them and caused us to look both outward and inward.

Well if Mr Hawking believes we should send people to space I am in agreement. Can we start by sending the Kardashians, Justin Bieber, Robert Mugabe and Kanye West, one way, no repopulating necessary? Just a thought…
