DJ Sbu, from Metro fm, has found himself in some hot water this week after an image of him on the cover of Forbes magazine went viral on social media.

Forbes Africa managing director Chris Bishop has slated DJ Sbu for making this fake cover, as, according to him, “We guard our cover jealously. People spend their whole lifetimes to get on that cover!”.

We know nothing the about the cover, we know nothing about the drink that is on the front. Forbes cover is most important to us. It is our trend mark. It is quite upsetting to see a bogus cover. I haven’t spoken to him personally, but our legal team is writing to him.

Why the uproar against Sbu and his energy drink, Mofaya? Clearly it’s just a happy fan making something for his hero? Sbu has denied that he made the image:

I did not fabricate any cover! I see images of myself on social media all the time. I am extremely disappointed in Forbes’ Chris Bishop for issuing that statement. I am extremely hungry; I don’t conform to the rules. I saw the image, it’s brilliant, and I retweeted it.

Bishop says that Forbes is considering legal action against Sbu and that their legal team is writing to him.
Sbu, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, says that he has only featured in an article in the magazine’s US edition and is very grateful for that.
