Imagine if most of Capetonians decided to ditch their four wheel vehicle of choice for the ease of two wheels. The roads would take on a Barcelona-esque appeal and it would definitely ease what is the most congested city in the country.

But let’s face it, although getting a motorcycle is easy, getting the license for it can be such a shlep. First you got to book and complete the written test, then book and execute the practical one. Then there’s the issue of practicing on a motorcycle and gaining enough confidence to make it through to the end.

Well, there’s at least one place offering their assistance to make this all a little smoother. Various Vespa branches in South Africa are offering you lessons on how to ride safely until you’re proficient. Great hey? Hosting lessons in private and secluded areas, the Vespa team aims to teach you five various aspects:

    • Confidence to support the bike at standstill
    • Balancing, steering and stopping
    • Throttle control for regulating starts and stops
    • Controlled riding exercises
    • Unlimited repeat lessons to practice all the above

The best news is, Vespa will do all this for FREE. Nada. Mahala. How’s that? All you have to do is go to Vespa’s website and apply on line choosing one of the following stores in the country:

Joburg: Fourways Design Quarter, William Nicol Drive
    Sandton: Wynberg, 3 Sixth Street
Cape Town: Caltex Centre, Dock Road, V&A Waterfront
Cape Town: Sales and Service, 44 Bloem Street
    Durban: 33 Churchill Road, Windermere
