  • Here’s The Apology From The Proteas Cricket Player Who Pretended To Snort Cocaine [Video]

It’s always awkward when you’re at a sports match and the cameras focus on you, one finger up your nose digging for diamonds.

That or you promised your better half you were working late, although being at the cricket may be better than what they think you’re really up to when you come home smelling of beer and boerie.

Anyway in case you missed it here’s what happened on Sunday during the Proteas T20 win over England:

That’s Aaron Phangiso with a wide-eyed Quinton de Kock and KG Rabada watching on.

Now as the video began to circulate around social media you knew Cricket South Africa and Phangiso would have to address it at some point, especially given Phangiso’s recent drinking incident. IOL with how that played out:

“I was sharing a light and humorous moment with my team-mates, but in hindsight I realise it was a silly and irresponsible thing to do. I would like to apologise for my actions and to all those who I may have offended”…

Cricket South Africa’s CEO, Haroon Lorgat, said the behaviour of Phangiso was inappropriate. “We understand that Aaron was sharing in a light-hearted moment with his team-mates, but his action on television was inappropriate in the light of the drug problem that we are challenged with in South Africa.

We have asked team management to highlight the responsibility all players have in being positive and inspirational role models to the youth of this country.”

Can you imagine if Imran Tahir hoovered up a few lines and took a wicket? There’s a celebration I’d like to see…
