  • If You Google Every Time You Call A Restaurant, You’re Making A Mistake

I enjoy apps like Instagram and Pinterest, but they’re not adding anything particularly useful to my life. They’re not making me more efficient.

Neither is the habit of Googling things every time I need a number.

    Something like this:

Look familiar? And then you click that button to call and you think you’re very clever.

It all seems very handy, until you take a good look at what is going on.

The fundamental problem with our Google addiction is that Google is not owned by Samsung or Apple, which means you can’t save a number to your phone when you find it on Google.

So you click ‘Call’ next to the phone number on Google, once you’ve searched for the establishment. Which is great – expect for one thing – you’re dong it EVERY TIME you call the place. And you never add it to your contacts, because you’re busy making the call!

And what about when you happen to be in a no-signal zone? Or you’ve only got EDGE? There’s a reason it’s called edge, because when this happens it puts YOU on edge!

Or what about when you search for a plumber and click ‘Call’ next to the one that sounds the nicest. Then the next time you want a plumber you do it again, and you don’t even know if it’s the same plumber.

You’ve caught yourself doing this far too often and every time it happens a little piece of you dies, because you know you’re punishing yourself.

Luckily a local startup – CONNECTO – has connected to the entire Yellow Pages directory, allowing you to search for anything from restaurants to electricians and printers – but the BEAUTY of this thing is you can save each one to your own personal directory and share / search through your friends’ directories as well.

Each listing shows the logo, 1-click phone number, address (with quick-click map) and opening times.

And because Connecto have managed to harness the energy of the Yellow Pages, you find the listings you’re after in record time – much faster than Google.

One of the most exciting parts of Connecto is the fact that you can leave reviews and share listings with your friends.

So you might have a friend who is a restaurant expert – awesome – simply delve into their directory and choose a few restaurants to add to your directory.

And don’t worry, if you have listings you don’t want other people to see or have on their list, you can hide them.

The Nunnery on Bree Street, perhaps 😉

Do yourself a favour and give Connecto a crack – it’s become a proper part of my life now and more and more of my mates are using it.

Click below and enjoy a better life.
