Imagine this: You’re out at the supermarket with your 13-year-old daughter getting a few things, when suddenly she’s being dragged out of the store by a man in an attempted kidnapping. What do you do?
Well, a Florida mom grabbed her daughter and didn’t let go, resulting in a tug-of-war.
The whole thing was caught on video, but what happened next was pretty lucky.
As the would-be kidnapper let go of the teenager and ran from the store, local Deputy Jonathan Behnen was walking in and caught the suspect after being alerted by the store manager. That’s some quick thinking there.
The officer ran to his patrol car and pulled out in front of the suspect’s vehicle, as the he tried to drive off.
When I first saw him run out the building, I thought it was just a shoplifter.
The weirdest thing is the suspect, 30-year-old Craig Bonello, said he has “done this before.” However, authorities have not found any evidence of other abduction attempts.
The suspect said he did not know the mother or the teen, and did not say what he was planning to do with the girl, according to the paper.
How weird? Just watch how Craig Bonello acts before going in for the kidnap:
