You know you’re living in the lap of luxury when your hotel is underwater, at least in circumstances where that’s part of management’s plans.

Condé Nast know travel, so when they put a list together we usually sit up and take notice.

This time around they’re focusing on aquatic accommodation, selecting their 11 coolest underwater hotels. We’re going to select five that float our boat so let’s dive right in.

Maldives: Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

    underhotels

The world’s first all-glass undersea restaurant is located 16 feet below sea level at the Conrad Maldives

Maldives: Subsix at PER AQUUM Niyama

    underhotels2

Located nearly 20 feet below the Indian Ocean, Subsix earns bragging rights as the world’s first underwater club. The floor-to-ceiling windows lining the walls of the bar provide spectacular night views of the illuminated ocean floor. More than 545 yards from the coast, Subsix is only accessible by boat.

    Singapore: Resort World Sentosa

    underhotels3

Resort World Sentosa offers 11 two-story townhouses with bedroom views of an enormous aquarium filled with over 40,000 marine fish.

Maldives: Sea at Anantara Kihavah Villas

    underhotels4

Head to the aptly named Sea at Anantara Kihavah Villas. The mirrored interior reflects the surrounding Indian Ocean sea life, as you dine at the restaurant that doubles as an underwater wine cellar.

    Vasteras, Sweden: Utter Inn

    underhotels5

The Utter Inn offers a single underwater room floating in a Swedish lake near Stockholm, and holds just twin beds and a table.

Those Swedes hey, sometimes less really is moor – that’s a pun, not a spelling error.
