Catcalling and construction workers go hand in hand and, if you are a female, you know that it’s not very often that a construction worker in any situation will fight the urge to entice you in one way or another.
And that’s pretty unfortunate.
After construction worker Sam Wayne took a selfie with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, speculation began over the possibility of the workers subjecting the Princess to catcalling.
Headlines like “What did the hunky builder say to make Kate giggle” appeared on newspapers, but Wayne said the builders were respectful.
The Royal couple were visiting building development Nansledan in Cornwall, a 218 hectare site that will provide future business and housing for the local area.
During an interview with the Daily Express, Wayne insisted that while there were a few comments on Kate’s appearance – the builders saying she looked hot – there was no wolf whistling and everyone was respectful of the Royal’s presence.
He went on to explain the rumors were generated by stereotypes associated with construction workers.
I am a bit cheeky and it is a bit of fun — but I find it all very odd that all the headlines about their visit have just been about a selfie. As much as I love my five minutes of fame the reaction has been based around a stereotype of builders and scaffolders.
Wayne was also able to manage to get one with Prince Charles in 2014:
But does she have the most desirable face? Na.
