Yeah, no prizes for guessing who’s coming in first.

The ‘World Cities Review 2016: The wealthiest cities in the world’ report has just been released, and those four cities mentioned up top feature.

Some worldwide stats before we dive into the local – as of June this year the total wealth held worldwide amounts to US$185 trillion, and there are more than 13 million dollar millionaires and just under 2 000 dollar billionaires.

Here at home the total wealth held amounts to US$580 billion, with 40 400 millionaires and seven billionaires in total.

If you break that down by city of course it’s Jozi coming in first, with us beach-chilling mountain starers in the Cape claiming second.

Rather surprisingly Durban pips Pretoria to third place, with this table below from BusinessTech:

Those last two were highlighted in the report as ’emerging wealth areas’, so perhaps numbers three and four on that list may be pipped some time soon.

    Here’s the world’s top 10 richest cities:

Spare a thought for the arty types over in San Francisco, who have seen rent skyrocket with the influx of tech wizards and start-up companies.

As for us on the tip of Africa – second place in South Africa, chilled.
