We’re never going to side with some British tossers out on a fox hunt, but you’d have to say that there’s a protester or two in the wrong here, too.
During a hunt this past Saturday, organised by the East Sussex & Romney Marsh Hunt Club (ESRMH), a video emerged of a huntswoman repeatedly striking anti-fox hunting protesters with a riding crop.
The woman claims she was a victim of “extreme provocation”, and Sussex Police have now confirmed that the incident is being investigated.
The Telegraph reports:
The protesters last night claimed that she had used her whip 17 times during the altercation at Pevensey Marshes, Sussex.
A spokesman for the ESRMH said that while it does not “condone any form of violence”, riders had been subjected to “extreme provocation, personal harassment and other offences”.
“The hunt acts lawfully within the confines of the Hunting Act 2004 and takes every measure to ensure the law is adhered to,” they added.
A representative from the Countryside Alliance said: “As we have always known, the reality is that the anti-hunting movement is far more about the hatred of people who hunt than the love of animals.
Pretty sure you can hate people who hunt for sport AND love animals, pal.
Here’s how this one unfolded:
I’d say everyone is behaving badly, because to grab the horse’s reins is idiotic, but if you’re hunting foxes for fun then chances are you’re a piece of garbage.
