Ford’s Reason For Recalling 1,4 Million Cars Will Leave You Speechless

We've seen plenty of Ford Kuga models exploding into flames over the past two years, but the company's latest gaffe is pretty damn ridiculous.

No, no, Ford hasn’t been accused of pumping diesel emissions for four hours at a time into airtight chambers containing java monkeys.

And neither are they dealing with another wave of exploding Kugas.

Rather, the American car company has had to recall nearly 1,4 million “midsize cars” because the steering wheel can detach from the steering column at any time, reports CNBC.

Of course, this would result in drivers losing control.

The models affected are only in North America, however, and covers all versions of Ford Fusions and Lincoln MKZs manufactured between 2014 and 2018:

Ford says steering wheel bolts can loosen over time. The company says it knows of two crashes and one injury allegedly related to the problem.

Dealers will replace the bolts with longer ones that have more aggressive threads and a nylon patch to stop them from coming loose.

The U.S. isn’t the only country affected, because Canada and Mexico also have models of Fords that should never have been released to the public in the first place.

Oh, oh, oh, but there’s more: Ford is also recalling around 6 000 2013-16 Ford Focus with 1,0-litre Fox GTDI engines and B6 manual transmissions, as well as 2013-15 Ford Fusion with 1,6-litre Sigma GTDI engines and B6 manual transmissions, because a potential clutch pressure plate fracture could pose a fire risk.

And then they will have another Kuga situation on their hands.

You would think all those issues would be figured out before the cars were sent out onto the road.
