  • Local Company Quietly Snaps Up R52 Million Acquisition

When your company gets listed on the JSE, becoming the first of its kind to do so, you’re going to be popping bottles.

That doesn’t mean you should rest on your laurels, though, and it’s clear that Stor-Age, the only personal-storage group listed on Africa’s largest stock exchange, aren’t taking their foot off the pedal.

CEO Gavin Lucas [below] recently announced that the company “clinched a strategically important acquisition it had its eye on for seven years”, with this from Business Day:

Stor-Age has bought All-Store Self Storage, the main storage provider in Cape Town’s northern suburbs of Belville, Kuils River and Brackenfell.

The R52m acquisition forms part of Stor-Age’s strategy to own self-storage properties in prime, high-visibility locations in key suburbs in target cities across SA and the UK.

The 2ha Cape Town property offers 5,500m² of lettable area, as well as further developable land. Stor-Age now has a combined portfolio that includes 68 properties across SA and the UK, covering a gross lettable area of 392,500m².

We actually covered how their strong stock performance is linked to their property acquisitions a few months ago, which is pretty impressive for a company founded by a father-son duo.

Lucas says that part of snapping up their recent acquisition was due to their prime exposure to passing traffic, and if you’ve ever headed out of the Cape Town CBD you’ll no doubt have seen the Stor-Age situated opposite the Fire Station on Roeland Street.

Seems like having stores located slap bang in the middle of the action is rather good for business.

The company has locations dotted all over Cape Town, as well as a number in Jozi, Pretoria, Durban, PE and Bloemfontein, so if you’re looking for somewhere to stash your goods then you know who to call.

Because we care, we can even hook you up with 50% off your first month’s storage, no minimum rental period required – find those details here.
