Words cannot describe how ready I am to see Jason Momoa in action. Oh, and I can’t wait for Aquaman, too. That’s also the important thing.
Audiences at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday were in for a treat.
No, I’m not talking about Johnny Depp dressing up in cosplay for Harry Potter fanatics – I’m talking about the official Aquaman trailer, which sees Momoa playing … well, Aquaman, reports Esquire.
A very nice-looking Aquaman, by which I mean he’s very nice to look at.
Hmm? Oh yes, the plot. About that …
The plot, found in the trailer’s description link on YouTube, gives us a taste of what to expect:
The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime — one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be … a king.
So think of it as The Lion King, with a dash of Marvel-esque humour and CGI porn à la Thor and Black Panther … but UNDERWATER.
Joining Momoa in this James Wan-directed film are Amber Heard as Atlantean warrior Mera, Patrick Wilson as Aquaman’s villainous half-brother, Orm, and Nicole Kidman as their mom, Queen Atlanna.
Can Aquaman outdo Justice League, or in fact any other dark-ass DC offering in the last three years?
Hit the play button:
You like? If not, you gotta admit that Aquaman himself looks good. Fantastic, actually. Almost divine to look at.
Thirstiness aside, let’s hope the movie is a case of “came for Jason Momoa, stayed for a decent DC superhero movie”.
Aquaman will be out in American cinemas on December 14.
In the meantime, keep smashing that replay button for all that Momoa goodness.
