If you know what’s good for you, you don’t cross the road when there’s a minibus taxi heading your way.
Also, you always look both ways, because even one-way streets aren’t a guarantee that one side of the road is safe when drivers aren’t bothered about abiding by the law.
Part of being South African is knowing how to navigate roads alongside these insane public transport nightmares that seem to be a law unto themselves.
A glaring example of this happened in Johannesburg on Monday when a minibus taxi, driving on the wrong side of the road, mowed down a pedestrian, reports the Citizen.
Take a look, but be warned, the footage is graphic:
The pedestrian survived and has been hospitalised. At least the driver of the taxi had the decency to stop and wait for the police to arrive, but by then the damage had been done.
