As the holidays draw closer, your Instagram feed starts filling up with #wanderlust, as people travel far and wide to take filtered, orchestrated snaps of their perfect getaways.
This is becoming such a craze, in fact, that it’s been identified as a gap in the market- a gap that two hotels in Switzerland have decided to capitalise on.
The Citizen writes that hotels in Geneva and Zurich launched what they’re calling an “Instagram-Sitter” service, that invites guests to hand their social media over to “influencers” who’ll take their annoying holiday pics for them while they relax.
It’s a move aimed at helping guests untether themselves from their phones and enjoy their holiday.
During the month-long trial run, a trio of influencers have been hired to manage guests’ Instagram accounts by posting the best photos and creating Instagram stories on their behalf.
The influencers include Geneva-based lifestyle blogger Cristina Gheiceanu; local radio DJ Sylwina and Sara Leutenegger, a candidate on Germany’s Next Top Model.
If you’re getting an icky feeling from this, wait until you see the ad for the service:
This might be the most irritating thing I’ve seen all week.
You can book the service when you book an Ibis hotel room in Geneva or Zurich.
But you really shouldn’t.
