Banking is one of those jobs that we associate with a significant paycheque.

A paycheque that’s only going to get bigger, according to new data.

Robert Walters recruitment has released its annual salary survey which shows professional salaries across South Africa.

According to BusinessTech, the report indicates that salaries will increase by 7% on average in 2019.

However, if you’re a top performing professional, with a highly sought-after skill set, you can expect to see a pay rise of 10-15%.

“It will be another challenging year for the South African economy in 2019, as the pending election will bring about some level of uncertainty leading foreign firms to take a cautious approach to investing in the country,” said Nic Sephton-Poultney, Robert Walters South Africa MD.

“We expect that organisations will take a careful approach to growth and hiring strategies. Professionals with a combination of strong technical skills and industry experience will remain sought after in the private sector.”

In other words, if you’re in it for the cash, you might want to get into one of the professions listed below.

The tables show expected salaries in the banking, finance and legal sectors, based on the salary survey conducted.

If you’re sitting at your desk thinking that you made the wrong call, I’m sure you’re not alone.

Upskilling might not be a bad idea in our current situation – just saying.
